We were able to see the green-blue disk of Neptune and spent many hours exploring the surface of the moon. It offers a 180mm aperture with fully multi-coated lenses. It has a 2700mm focal length and comes with a 28mm eyepiece, an 8×50 FinderScope, and 2” 90 degree Star diagonal. If you can invest more money in a lifetime purchase, the Sky Watcher Skymax 180 is an exceptional scope that will not disappoint. Using the smooth manual slow-motion controls, we tracked the planets as they moved across the sky.įor beginners, this is a good telescope to see planets and the Starry Night astronomy software is extremely helpful and will keep you busy for hours. We enjoyed the sturdy EQ-2 equatorial telescope mount and adjustable tripod that allowed our smaller children to see great views of Saturn and Jupiter. The optical tube is only 24” long and the weight is 27 lbs, making it easy to pack into a car for a weekend away from the city lights. It has a large 5.1 inch aperture that gathers ample amounts of light for great views. If you are looking for quality planetary telescopes to enjoy viewing the planets, the moon, and other sky objects as a family hobby, the Orion 09007 SpaceProbe 130ST Equatorial Reflector Telescope is a great choice. It comes with a red-dot finderscope, stainless steel tripod, single fork arm altazimuth mount, a handy rechargeable battery (10 hours), and a controller app, Skyportal. Overall though, this telescope is phenomenal and is the best telescope on this list for viewing planets! The cable is only $10, but it’s not USB compatible, so you’ll need to buy an adapter for it as well. The only downside to this telescope is that it doesn’t come with a cable you need to update the controller software, which often comes with an outdated version. The mount is computerized, so tracking and locating objects is exceptionally straightforward.Īdditionally, you can connect it to a tablet or phone, and once it’s aligned, it’s effortless to jump to objects all around the night sky. The telescope has a 203mm (8 inch) aperture, which offers an incredible and crystal-clear observation experience of planets and deep-sky objects. ![]() The NexStar Evolution 8 is the perfect choice for advanced users with a larger budget. It comes with a 2-inch Crayford focuser, a 25mm eyepiece, an EZ Finder reflex sight, a collimation cap, and access to astronomy software, Starry Night. ![]() Overall, the Orion XT8 is an excellent entry-point telescope with a reasonable price, but it’s not the best option for advanced users. However, this won’t typically be noticeable unless you’re a seasoned veteran. The primary mirror is also not correctly configured, meaning precision viewing isn’t always possible. For instance, the bearings for the base are made from cheaper materials, which can sometimes make adjustments harder than usual. While it’s a fantastic entry-point telescope, more advanced users will notice some flaws in the design choices and materials. The telescope has an aperture of 203mm and a focal length of 1500mm, providing a more wide-angle field of view. Though reflectors often perform better viewing galaxies or other deep-sky objects, it’s of sufficient size to view the Moon, Jupiter, Saturn, and more planets with some detail. The Orion SkyQuest XT8 is a surprisingly large reflector telescope at a very affordable price.

That the new V6 plays as compelling a part in that narrative as the V8 did in the old car’s motley charm is a massive plus in its favour. Tie in a Dynamic steering system which actually comes good at outside-lane motorway speeds and suddenly you’ve got a two-door RS car persuasively capable of crossing a continent. In Comfort mode, the traditionally nagging short-wave stiffness has been uncoiled by adaptive dampers with enough latitude to finally deliver a sympathetic and supple primary ride. Tested on super-heated stretches of deserted French Autoroute, the RS5 can be characterised as easily the most comfortable car in Audi’s range. Its surge is prodigious, unthreatening and prolonged – any concern about the Tiptronic’s lacklustre showing in the Audi S5 is swept away by its sure handling of the many rhythmic upshifts required.Īround this entirely different sort of engine, Audi has moulded a palpably different sort of car. Where its predecessor dispensed progress in escalating lunges to the redline, the V6 unfurls itself through the medium of the mid range. Audi Sport has persevered with the soundtrack – boldly equating it to the turbocharged V6 that powered the B5-generation RS4 – but its bass-edged waffle doesn’t quite cut it. ![]() The inside also conforms to type, which is to say immaculate and brilliantly made and utterly endearing to touch and look at. The proportions feel about the same, too, despite the 74mm of additional length predominately donated by the MLB’s larger wheelbase. The RS5 signals a mild overhaul of the brand’s styling approach – although with its blistered arches, lacerated air intakes and pothole-big oval exhaust pipes, it establishes a familiar scene. Peak torque, predictably, is dramatically superior, the V6 summoning up 600Nm from 1900rpm. Outputs are slightly different, too, Audi Sport having eked out 7kW more so it can claim to match the outgoing V8’s 331kW. That means the car shares its V6 with the second-generation Panamera 4S, but not an entire driveline. There’s also a transmission change to a ZF eight-speed torque converter auto. The chassis is new, too, with a five-link arrangement at the front and back, paired with adaptive dampers. It is lighter by 60kg in its cooking format (thanks mostly to the 31kg-lighter V6), the mechanical rear ‘sport’ differential can complement the quattro all-wheel drive system and wheel selective torque control. A couple of the new car’s modifications then are notable out of the gate. However, memories of the departed V8 provide not only a signpost to the previous RS5’s most likeable fixture, but also quattro GmbH – the entity which has now morphed into Audi Sport.Ĭonsequently, the introduction of its latest two-door, four-seat coupe has been carefully juxtaposed with the mention of ‘gran turismo’ a notable divergence for a car previously expected to fight with the BMW M4 and Mercedes-AMG C63 Coupe. Naturally, on paper, it is superior in almost every sense. Its replacement is the all-new 2.9-litre twin-turbocharged V6 co-developed with Porsche. Not because it was particularly good overall, but rather because it was the final refuge of Ingolstadt’s 4.2-litre V8 arguably the naturally aspirated multi-cylinder engine of the last decade. ![]() Before we talk about the new RS5, we’d be remiss not to sound a rhetoric last post at the departure of the old model. ![]() All of this made me want to keep playing - and play in different ways. I hacked and slashed my way through these levels, but I got to choose my loadouts before I set out. However, those are just the accoutrements. Toss in some fantastic music and sound effects, and Bastion is a blast to experience. Bastion's a single-player game, but the narrator was my companion through thick and thin. The narrator entertained me as he announced what I was doing and why it mattered, but his sultry tones also kept me company. The graphics are amazing I can only describe the scenes as a watercolor painting with stained glass influences. Still - and this is the rare occasion I say this about a story - it didn't matter. By the time it reached the branching ending, I didn't have strong enough feelings to really care one way or another about the outcome. Like I said, not that different from your average RPG, and it never hooked me. To do this, you'll need to dive into levels, best foes, and collect shards. You awaken as "the Kid," and set off to restore the Bastion - a spot where everyone was supposed to meet if bad stuff went down. This translation preserves the most important emissive properties of the light, including its placement in the scene, color, photometric intensity, cone angles, IES profile, and more. See the Cinema 4D documentation.įor a complete discussion and more possible solutions, see Datasmith Import Process.ĭatasmith converts most types of lights from Cinema 4D into equivalent light types in Unreal Engine. When you find faces with inversed normals in Cinema 4D, you can flip them around using the Reverse Normals command. Make sure the Polygon Normals setting is enabled, and disable its Selected Only option to visualize the normals for all faces in the model that you have selected while you're in Polygons mode. Choose Options > Configure and go to the Attributes panel. You can configure your viewport to show vertex normals as white lines that extend from the center of each face. When you are in Polygons mode, selected faces show up with a yellow highlight when they are facing toward you, but a blue highlight when facng away from you. ![]() In this case, flipping the normal direction of the surface makes the sides appear as they should. After the scene is imported into Unreal, the front cover at first appears to be missing. If your scene contains single-sided geometry for which the surface normals of the faces point away from the typical viewing direction, that geometry may seem to disappear when viewed from certain angles in the Unreal Engine.įor example, the image below shows a book that was modeled with one of its surface normals facing inward. Depending on how you set up Cinema 4D, you may not be used to taking the facing direction of your surfaces into account. However, Cinema 4D can render geometry with or without this backface culling. The Unreal Engine, like most real-time renderers, automatically culls triangles that face away from the camera in order to maximize performance. It then places multiple instances of this Static Mesh Asset into the Datasmith Scene. If you use instances, cloners, or arrays in your Cinema 4D scene to place copies of a single object at multiple different locations in your scene, Datasmith respects your intention by creating a single Static Mesh Asset in your Content Browser from that object's geometry. Datasmith imports each of these triangular meshes as a single Static Mesh Asset. Similarly, every deformer is baked to a single triangular mesh based on the final state of the deformer. When you save your Cinema 4D scene for Melange, every generator in your scene is baked down to a single triangular mesh that represents the total procedurally generated geometry of the object. Alternatively, you can put the objects you want to omit into their own layer, then use the Layers panel to hide all objects in that layer. You can use the Objects panel in Cinema 4D to hide the objects individually. The Datasmith importer does not import geometry of hidden objects into Static Mesh Assets, and does not include them in the Datasmith Scene hierarchy. If you have objects that you don't want to import into Unreal Engine at all, hide them in Cinema 4D before you save your. See Connect Object in the Cinema 4D documentation.
